Middle Grounds charter out of Gulfport, Florida

Deep Sea · $3,500

Middle Grounds

The long haul west. Prime pelagic and grouper territory, and the reason the boat was set up the way it is.

What this trip is

The Florida Middle Grounds sit well offshore, and getting there is a commitment of hours before a line goes in the water. That distance is the whole point: it is a stretch of hard bottom that most of the fleet cannot reach and back in a day, which is why the fish there behave like fish that do not see much pressure.

It is pelagic and grouper country. The run is long enough that the trip is planned around conditions as much as around the calendar, and your captain will talk through the weather window when you book.

This is the trip for anglers who would rather spend the fuel to fish somewhere the crowd is not.

Who it suits

Experienced anglers who want distance, and are flexible on dates for weather.

Other ways to fish this water

This is what we built the program around. Long runs west to the Middle Grounds and beyond, federally permitted red snapper, deep drop rigs in a few hundred feet of water, and overnights when the fish are worth the hours.

What to expect

Before you step aboard

The details that make the difference between a good day and a long one.

Water, food, towels and sunscreen. All bait, tackle and equipment is provided by Gulfport Charters. One rule we hold firm on: no spray sunscreen on board.

Full-day offshore charters meet at the marina at 5AM. Custom charter departure times are set with your captain during planning.

Cancellations within 7 days of the trip forfeit the deposit. If we cancel for weather, or the captain calls it for any reason, you are not penalized — pick a makeup date or take a full refund.

Yes. That said, these are long days in the Florida elements. We don't recommend them for young children, elderly adults, or anyone with pre-existing conditions.

Please do. Before your charter you tell your captain what you want to focus on and they build a plan to maximize your time on the water. Or just show up and let us run it.
