Hogfish Trip charter out of Gulfport, Florida

Nearshore · $1,900

Hogfish Trip

A nearshore day worked over hard bottom and ledges, built around the fish most Gulf regulars rate as the best eating out there.

What this trip is

Hogfish do not come off open sand. They come off structure, and finding them is a matter of knowing which pieces of hard bottom and which ledges are holding fish that week. That is what this trip is: working the numbers inside the shelf rather than burning the day running to them.

Because the run is short, more of the charter is spent fishing than travelling. It suits anglers who want a productive day on the water without a pre-dawn start, and it is one of the better trips on the list for a group that includes people who have not fished offshore before.

Snapper and other reef fish come over the rail on the same numbers, so the cooler rarely comes home light.

Who it suits

Groups who want structure fishing and the best table fare in the Gulf, without a long run.

Before you step aboard

The details that make the difference between a good day and a long one.

Water, food, towels and sunscreen. All bait, tackle and equipment is provided by Gulfport Charters. One rule we hold firm on: no spray sunscreen on board.

Full-day offshore charters meet at the marina at 5AM. Custom charter departure times are set with your captain during planning.

Cancellations within 7 days of the trip forfeit the deposit. If we cancel for weather, or the captain calls it for any reason, you are not penalized — pick a makeup date or take a full refund.

Yes. That said, these are long days in the Florida elements. We don't recommend them for young children, elderly adults, or anyone with pre-existing conditions.

Please do. Before your charter you tell your captain what you want to focus on and they build a plan to maximize your time on the water. Or just show up and let us run it.
